The Author’s Story

Val Minett portrait.jpeg

Val, a native New Yorker, has lived in semi-rural Pennsylvania for over 20 years. Val Minett’s literary journey began after decades in corporate America and 15 years co-parenting 3 children that she, and her wife of almost 20 years, adopted out of the foster system. All three children were adopted at older ages and came from difficult early years.

Her inspirations are drawn from real life; all of it- the good, bad, ugly and amazing. Val’s narrative style is a deliberate blend of intellectual depth and artisanal warmth, crafted to resonate with readers who like to explore topics in their totality. Val often describes certain situations as 'micro-societies', meaning a self-sustaining sub-culture that any of us might find ourselves a part of for a moment, an hour, or finite period of time. It is in the exploration of these micro-societies that we find clues as to how we all function.

Through her first published work, Val invites readers into a world where every sentence is a step toward understanding. Her story is one of dedication to the art of honesty, a commitment to the reader, and a belief that every book is a unique conversation between author and audience.
